Trans Canada Trail

Walking the Great Trail is a wonderful way to spend time in Outlook & District Regional Park.  We are home to 2 Trans Canada Trail loops that are about a kilometer each.  The trails host awesome views of the South Saskatchewan River and are perfect for bird and wildlife watching.  We also offer “Kids Adventure Packs” to sign out and take along on your family hike!  Adult binoculars are also available.

Boating & Fishing

Outlook & District Regional Park is along the Chief Whitecap Waterway, which is the stretch of breathtakingly beautiful river between the Gardiner Dam and the city of Saskatoon.  Canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards can be launched into the South Saskatchewan from our designated launch located on the north end of the park, near the old train bridge.  Parking is available in the paved lot a short walk from the canoe launch.  If you like fishing, cast a line and take advantage of the numerous species that call the river home.

Special Events

We regularly hold special events in the Outlook & District Regional Park! Some examples include our mothers day market, an outdoor summer movie series, and a guided canoe trip!  Stay tuned to our Facebook page to keep in the know about all that is going on at the Park!

Bird Watching

Outlook & District Regional Park is a wonderful spot for bird watching!  There are many species of birds living in the park’s trees, and many more that stop by to enjoy the river throughout the year.  In the fall, the Sandhill Crane migration is an exciting event that you don’t want to miss!

Winter Activities

The trails in the park provide ample opportunities for cross-country skiing and hiking throughout the winter.  The winter months are also a great time to feed the birds, we have very friendly chickadees here!  Also, make sure to check out our Facebook page where we will be advertising our winter events, such as our Annual Winter Wonderland Drive-Thru, and maybe even some dog-sledding!

Reunions and Weddings

The Outlook & District Regional Park is a beautiful setting to host your own special events!  Call us at (306) 867 8846 to discuss our rates and amenities.

Historic Elm Trees

A canopy of 100 year old American Elm Trees blanket the area known as ‘the Bowl’ in the park.  Dutch Elm Disease is a very real threat to these beautiful Elms, which is why we ask everyone to not bring any outside firewood into the park.  After a visit to the park, you will see these trees are worth protecting!

Lake Diefenbaker

Lake Diefenbaker is a world class destination for boating and fishing.  It is definitely worth a visit, and only a half hour drive away!
